Our research focuses on the foundations of urban theory. we design empirical
methods to get an accurate picture of cities, and propose simple models to
understand them.
in particular, we are interested in the definition of
cities and systems of cities, quantifying urban form, scaling relationships
and street patterns. we also have a soft spot for broad societal issues
such as residential segregation, economic mobility as well as the efficiency
of the electoral system.
we firmly believes that a quantitative understanding of the mechanisms at play in our societies will allow us to design more efficient policies.
we also believe in open science. all our empirical studies are thus completely reproducible. all methods used are packaged into libraries that can be readily used. we believe anyone has the right to know.
